Gaining Momentum
In 2013, WSU photography students embraced the opportunity to venture outside the classroom and develop their artistic skills on the streets of Havana, Cuba.
The Art and Design Advocates supported this student travel and raised additional funds to enable the photography department to purchase a much-needed large-format printer. This gift freed the students’ work from the computer screen and made it possible for the photos from Cuba to be professionally presented, studied and even purchased. This equipment has revitalized the photography area, opened doors for new methods of teaching photography, and is one of the resources our students need to be at the top of their game in the contemporary art world.
Meeting Needs
and preparing for the future
The Havana project is just the beginning! Working with faculty and students, we are helping the School of Art, Design and Creative Industries achieve its goal of becoming the “go to” institution for a creative education in the state of Kansas. By helping to raise funds for exhibition opportunities, travel, visiting artists and cutting-edge equipment, the Art and Design Advocates embrace the collaborative and supportive spirit that thrives for art and design in Wichita.
If supporting the creative thinkers and doers of the future sounds like a rewarding journey, we are looking for like-minded people who share our passion and are willing to invest in the creative experience at WSU.
Your tax-deductible gift will ensure art and design will continue to enrich our lives now and in the future. When you become an Advocate, you will be invited into art studios to see students’ work first hand, to get to know students and faculty, to share and participate in their creative vision, and to attend special events and presentations by internationally acclaimed artists and designers.
Become an Art and Design Advocate! Together we will foster a bright and dynamic future for Art, Design and Creative Industries at WSU.
